Liposuction vs liposculpture

I recently came across a letter in a magazine I was reading and noticed something that perhaps occurs to most people. In the letter, the writer, a 34 year old female who just gave birth to a pair of twins (congratulations by the way!) was seeking help on the fastest and most effective way to lose weight. In the letter, she included a few terms like liposuction, tummy tuck and liposculpture. The thing is, she seemed to be rather confused about these few terms and used them interchangeably. Well the truth is, they are probably 80% very similar resulting in the mix-up there. To clear the air, I’ll be explaining what the 20% difference is in this article.

Liposuction refers to the removing of fats deposit through a vacuum like suction tube. There are many types of liposuction procedures offered by surgeons including liposuction for eyes, liposuction for face, liposuction for thighs, liposuction for tummy and the list goes on. These various procedures target different areas of our body and what surgeons do is that they make an incision on that area and suck out the fats using various techniques. The overall effect that patients hope to achieve is a slimmer area with less fats.

Liposculpture comes under the umbrella of liposuction and refers to using the technique of liposuction to create a more defined and trim area. So if you achieved the 24 inch waist that you have always desired, then it would be considered a case of liposculpture. Liposculpture surgeries are more precise and attain what customer’s request. Of course, these requests should be within permissible boundaries of what can be achieved. Don’t expect to be able to achieve supermodel figure just by going under the knife. There are a lot of contributing factors that play a part in giving you that gorgeous figure.

Liposculpture is not an easy procedure, especially since most of the liposuction procedures now use the tumescent technique. This causes the tissues around the area to swell and might affect the precision of the operation. The overall form of that area can become distorted and tricky to operate on. In addition to that, fat lumps are prone to shifting and it can making suction very complicated.

To find cheap liposuction might not be an issue but to find a surgeon that offers effective and cheap liposculpture might be tricky. Search through the net and local directories for the prices and information of these surgeons. Alternatively, if you are willing to venture abroad, there are many places overseas that actually offer cheap liposuction. This is factoring in prices for accommodation, airfare and other costs associated with travelling. I will be talking about cheap liposuction in UK in my next post so follow up if you’re interested!
